Art ceramics in the exposition of the Museum of the Classic of Jewish Literature Sholom-Aleehema

Abstract

The article deals with the analysis of the collection of decorative plates by porcelain painters M. Kozak and Z. Oleksenko at the Sholom Aleichem Museum of Jewish Literature, made at Polonsky Porcelain Factory. The purpose of this article is the illustration of author’s works of painters of the Polonsky Porcelain Factory and their cataloging in the collection of the Museum of the Classic of Jewish Literature Sholom Aleichem. The methodological basis is the general scientific principles and methods of research. Among them – the search, analysis and synthesis, generalizations that allowed to explore this issue and reveal it. The collection of artistic ceramics in the stock collection of the National Historical and Ethnographic Reserve «Pereyaslav» is quite large. A collection of ceramics of the Museum of the Classic of Jewish Literature Sholom Aleichem was formed in several stages. The first receipts date back to 1983. The collection of author’s works by M. Kozak and Z. Oleksenko has 15 preservation units. Decorative plates can be divided into two groups according to the plot compositions: the first - plates with views of the city of Pereyaslav from late XIX – early ХХ century, the second - plates, which created the world of images of works by Sholom-Aleichem. The study presents biographical data of M. Kozak and Z. Olexenko, their works, exhibited at the Museum of the Hebrew Classics of Hebrew Literature Sholom Aleichem NIEZ «Pereyaslav» and a catalog of author’s works, indicating the author, names and other data that characterize artistic ceramics are characterized. The collection demonstrates the wide possibilities of museum objects in reproducing the history and culture of Pereiaslav in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. In the collection of the museum there are unique objects, works of decorative and applied arts, which require systematization, scientific processing and introduction into scientific circulation.
